The Fred Hughes 10 marks the start of the racing new year for many a runner. It’s course is considered by some to be undulating; “You`re either going up or going down”, is how one runner had described it, however they added that it’s also an “Attractive route - mainly rural (on roads) or semi-rural. Good friendly atmosphere, cheery marshals and the pick of St Alban's pubs for a post-race pick me up pint.”
Stub-tacular! was how one competitor described the 2009 Stubbington Green 10K. After the disappointment of having to cancel the event in 2010 because of the adverse weather conditions the race proved to be as popular as ever in 2011. Sport Systems are pleased to have been appointed to chip time the race for the second time.
This race is a scenic and challenging 10 mile, 2-lap course comprising 75% road and 25% tracks & grass and is normally supported by around 700+ runners of all abilities. Much of the proceeds of the race go towards assisting local charities.
There are prizes for top 4 Male and top 3 Female finishers, plus generous Vets prizes. And of course a memento for all finishers. NEW this year are team prizes for top male and female teams. For UKA club members this will be done by Club. Non-affiliated competitors can choose their own team name and members.
