How Timing Works
Chip Timing
Chip timing provides precise, automated results for running events of any size. Each participant is issued a uniquely coded RFID chip, which is typically attached to their bib number or shoe. As runners pass over timing mats positioned at the start, finish, and key split points, the chip is detected and recorded in real time.
Timing Software
These detections are transmitted to our timing software, which matches each signal to a runner’s registration data. This allows for accurate calculation of gun times, chip times, and split times, even in large fields where start-line congestion can make manual timing impractical.
Timing Systems
Our timing systems are designed for speed, reliability, and scalability, ensuring consistent performance across events ranging from small club races to major city marathons. Combined with our on-site technical team and state of the art timing software, we provide organisers with complete confidence in their race results — from first finisher to final participant.
